Okay, I was a little harsh on summer last week. It’s not all bad. Here’s why!
1. Drive-Ins
There’s nothing better than hanging out at the drive-in, with friends, and family.
Nothing can spoil the experience of a drive-in. Not the bugs, not the heat, and not even rain.
They’re one of the best parts of summer!
2. Warm
While it does get too hot sometimes, other times it’s exactly right.
Just warm enough to swim, play sports, or build that deck add-on you’ve always wanted.
Or even sit in the summer sun enjoying a book and a nice cool drink.
Best of all, no shoveling snow!
3. Swimming
There’s nothing I like better than hanging by the pool in the summer.
Of course, cleaning it is never fun. But the swimming, the lounging in the water, going for a nice cool dip on a warm day, or after a sweaty day at work.
Listening to the neighbors’ children shrieking and having fun in the pool.
Best sounds of summer.
4. Outdoor Sports
As a kid I spent most of my time playing sports.
Softball in particular. I even had the tan to go with it.
Fresh air, exercise, and enjoying sports. Man, those were the days!
5. BBQs
What’s better than a summer BBQ?
Ribs, burgers, hotdogs, chicken, corn on the cob, and so much more cooked out on the grill.
So delicious!
Drinks by the fire with friends and family! The smell of food cooking.
Damn, I think I made myself hungry.
6. Beach
Of course, there’s a big swimming pool located on the west and east coast. Not heated, but still a fun time.
Build a sandcastle.
Go surfing.
Eat food.
Go for a walk.
And so much more. The beach is a place filled with endless fun and entertainment for the whole family!
7. Motorcycle Riding
It’s one of the few times of the year when riding is almost always possible even if the weather isn’t perfect.
Like if it rains, you won’t freeze to death from the cold. You might actually enjoy it.
The sun shines and it’s warm. A great combo for riding a motorcycle.
8. Thunderstorms
Now, I don’t know about you, but this is a favorite of mine.
The building shaking booms. Watching the lightening streak across the sky.
Sudden downpours.
I love thunderstorms.
Even the very smell of a thunderstorm makes me smile.
9. Road Trips
I feel like road trips are great in planning and then in the aftermath.
They’re chaotic and stuffy and crazed while you’re doing them. But chances are, they’re some memories you wouldn’t trade for anything.
Nothing is better than just getting in the car and journeying to some place new. Even if things go wrong, it’s awesome every time.
10. Vacations
Kids are out of school.
Parents are off.
People take trips.
It’s the best time to take some me time or quality time with those you love. Go wherever, do whatever, and enjoy the weather!
