Pride Couple – Nyssara

I think this couple is proof that you can have eight minutes of screen time together and I’ll still fall hard for them.

Nyssa and Sara share the screen only a handful of times, but I loved them.

Even from the first moment they graced my screen on Arrow. I watched the ‘Heir to the Demon’ episode live.

And I cannot compliment Katrina Law enough because of it.

Her performance conveyed the raw pain and feelings of Nyssa so perfectly, I actually felt bad for her. Something I didn’t think I was going to feel going in to the episode!

Nyssa quickly became a favorite of mine, and I still think she got the short end of the stick at the end of it all.

To be without her Beloved.

Sigh.

Nyssa’s debut established so much and gave so much material that my brain went wild. I actually have a fic in progress on AO3 of how the two fell in love with each other during their time in the League.

There was so much untapped potential between these two.

And I cannot say it enough that Katrina’s performance added so many layers, every time she appeared.

Her delivery of, “I took Sara into my heart and loved her with all of my soul.”

Simple amazing.

On the other side, we have the super conflicted Sara Lance. Who loved this woman so much and still does to a point, if the funeral in Arrow was anything to go by, but is terribly conflicted by what she’s capable of. Of what Nyssa represents to her.

Argh!

There were so many wonderful things they could have done with this couple and I’ll be forever bitter we didn’t get to see more!

Alas, what we did see is wonderful.

I love the detail of Sara wondering about going back to Nyssa, literally an episode before her relationship with Ava takes a turn. It’s amazing that she’s still on her mind after all this time.

I kept wondering, why don’t you then? Huh? She still loves you!

Or Sara naming Nyssa and being the catalyst for her own rescue.

Nyssa still choosing to call Sara Beloved, even after all this time. It’s clear, there won’t be anyone else for her.

And for Sara too, in a way.

Not that I don’t like Ava!

Just that Sara compromised everything about what she was raised to believe in to stand at Nyssa’s side, not once, but twice. And then attempted a third when she wanted to rescue Nyssa, but she made her promise to start over without her past.

Would Ava even have been a factor if Nyssa hadn’t insisted Sara move on with her life?

I don’t know.

So many wishes for these two. Alas, I’ll settle with fanfic.
