What could be better than a couple with so much chemistry that the writers decide to write for it?

The people working on Person of Interest saw the chemistry between Shaw and Root, and just went with it. Love it.

Honestly, their first interaction is charged with so many things and sets the stage without even realizing it.

While this is another couple that ended in tragedy, it fits – honestly.

Before you come after me, it does fit the series to have ended in so much death of it’s main cast.

Now, does that mean I like it? No.

Do I pretend everyone made it out alive and is still handling numbers? Yes.

Now, what can I say about these two?

Well, their relationship was just a good time.

It was chaos. It was sexual. A little unhealthy, but also the most healthy thing in either of their lives.

Root has never belonged before she found Team Machine.

Shaw has never had someone understand her like Root.

Shaw has a personality disorder, discussed numerous times over the course of the series. Essentially, she doesn’t feel the way most people do. Emotions are there, they’re just smaller, quieter.

She can’t love like a normal person.

But she loved Root.

Because Root never asked for more than she could give. She asked for somedays and was there in the now. It’s often suspected and I agree that they often slept together.

Physical intimacy was easy for Shaw and Root never asked for more.

Never asked for dates or a regular relationship.

She brought guns, stopped bad guys, and offered a good time in more ways than one.

Allowing Shaw the space to be who she is. Root was content to just be around her in whatever way Shaw allowed.

Because on the flip side, Shaw never made Root feel wrong.

She didn’t judge her for being unhinged or murderous. She didn’t try to make her anything than what she was. In fact, all their jagged and broken pieces fit together, because neither of them wanted the other to dull them.

I loved the idea of loving someone for who they are.

Seeing their worst and loving them.

For a measure of how much meant to Shaw, who doesn’t experience emotions like most people – Shaw didn’t cry when her father died. A man, we learn throughout the series, did mean something to her.

She cried when she lost Root and the Machine delivered Root’s final thoughts.

I think that says it all.
