NCIS: Hawai’i – Nightwatch Two

Kacy! Kacy! And more Kacy!

Tennant caught in the middle!

Lucy missing the ‘please help’ vibes from her phone call with Tennant! LOL!

Kate losing her mind over the thought of Lucy being in danger!

Kate and Lucy reliving their first date! (Anyone else getting some Marina vibes with the whole bar meet cute?)

Kai getting help!

Jesse and Lucy trying to help Kai get help!

The whole date with Tennant!

Someone please let Commander Chase and Ernie be a thing! Like a romantic thing! Or just put them together every episode! They’re lovely!

Does the actor who plays Ernie really sing? Because that was amazing!

I think I need a musical episode now. Oh no.

So many amazing things happened in this episode, I don’t even know where to start!

No, wait! That’s a lie! Let’s start with my favorite part!

Kate and Lucy!

These two! Ugh! They’re so wonderful! I loved every second of their time together in this latest episode! I love that the writers lean into Kacy whenever they have the opportunity, which given one of the actress’ prior commitments is hard.

However, they have utilized the time they do have with her wonderfully.

I’ve seen some people say they’re not crazy about the way things have gone with Yas coming and going so often, but I have to say I think it’s been handled well.

Last season, they choose this whole will they – won’t they vibe, while tossing in all kinds of relationship drama.

This season, they kept it a bit more simple. Kate and Lucy are building a solid relationship this season.

One where Kate can show up for a little moral when she needs it.

Where Lucy gets to be her extra adorable weird self.

And they just love each other more because of it.

It’s a wonderful thing to see! Two women building a healthy, lasting relationship, and trying to make it work no matter what.

This episode was a testament to how comfortable they are.

Kate showed up with no warning to bring food, she made no real comment about Lucy’s choice of snacks. There was no real issue.

It’s a thing between them.

Kate tries to get Lucy to eat healthy. Which she does, when she’s with Kate. But they both know that drawer is there and that Lucy totally eats whatever she wants when Kate’s not around. It was a very couple type thing.

Once again, Lucy adds to her odd behavior by revealing she doesn’t celebrate anything on the anniversary or date it actually occurs.

Also, Kate! Quick question! Did your girlfriend just declare you were opening Christmas presents on the 23rd and you just said nothing? You didn’t ask why? Nothing? No questions at all?

My goodness! Kate is so lovestruck, she’d do anything for Lucy no matter how ridiculous.

Jeez.

Lucy wanting to celebrate them was cute though.

Although, did she buy the cupcake in the hopes Kate wouldn’t eat it and she would have it all for herself?

It was all so domestic when Kate brought her a cup of coffee or tea. It was a sweet gesture.

Everything about their scenes was adorable.

I loved Kate when she shot the bad guy. “I turn my back for one minute.”

What is up with this season and moments like this? Huh? Tennant has saved Kai this way at least three times. Now we have Kate doing it too?

Although, it was pretty swoon worthy to see Kate come to her girl’s rescue.

Kate and Lucy’s little tiff in the conference room was simply wonderful.

It was two people who love each other bickering. There was no real fight or anger behind their words. Just worry and concern. Two different viewpoints from two different agents and personalities.

Fun fact! It was episode 20 of season one where Kate got her ass whooped and Lucy demanded she keep the ice pack on!

And here, in the 20th episode of this season, we find the moment reversed! With Kate demanding the ice pack stay on!

Also, I felt so bad for Tennant getting caught between them. She walked in at the absolute wrong moment.

I love the bond Kate and Tennant share, because it’s very different from the rest of the relationships on the show.

To me, Kate and Tennant have always felt like they treat each other as equals.

Once worthy adversaries turned allies turned family.

Last season we say Tennant lose her oldest and best friend, a person her kids called an aunt. Within an episode of losing her mentor and friend, we saw Kate and Tennant grow closer.

I’ve almost felt like Kate filled a void in Tennant’s life by her former best friend.

And Tennant fills many roles in Kate, but most importantly, is someone Kate can relay on to be honest, and tell her like it is.

In my opinion, this scene solified it.

One look from Kate was all Tennant needed to cave and send Kate along with an injured Lucy.

One little sentence had her calling to take the icepack too.

I’ve never seen Tennant do anything because someone else wanted it. Especially not in her house, with one of her people.

But she respects Kate.

She loves Kate.

And she loves Lucy.

And Tennant understands, at the end of the day, they’re each other’s person. They come home to each other, every night. They are each other’s home.

She respected Kate enough to help her take care of Lucy.

She didn’t treat her like an annoying girlfriend hanging around or getting involved. She treated her like a friend and helped her as much as she could to help Lucy.

And Kate knew she could ask this of Tennant.

She knew she could get Tennant to convince Lucy to have back-up and allow herself to be cared for, because sometimes you need that voice of reason outside your romantic partner.

I loved that scene! I loved it for the bickering and to see how ingrained Kate is with the whole team!

Now – however – for my very favorite part!

The date!

Were those the clothes they were wearing that night? Kate is a stickler for details, so my guess would be yes.

After all, Lucy was a bit dressed up, while Kate was more dressed down.

I love that Lucy came off more cool and collected that her recounting the story to Ernie in 1×19 was. She said she was working up the courage to say something to the most beautiful woman she’d ever seen. She definitely managed to keep her wits.

Though, I would love to see a flashback – this was cute too!

A few weeks ago, we got Carina and Maya back in Joe’s bar, the place they met to have a date to renew their romance.

And last night, we have Kate and Lucy furthering their romance by celebrating where they met.

Life is good sometimes!

I loved that Lucy just picked a fry up and then another, regardless of Kate’s plea to keep it closer to the night they met. She wanted to flirt and talk, like they did.

I wonder, if you went back and told those two sitting at the bar where they would be in three years if they would have believed you.

I was struck in that moment about how far these two have come since that night.

All the things they didn’t know. All the hurt they hadn’t yet faced. All the good things they have together. The home their making together. The life they’re building, piece by piece, brick by brick.

I kept thinking, this is amazing to watch.

Thank you NCIS: Hawai’i for these two amazing women!

As for everything else in this episode!

I loved that Jesse and Lucy encouraged Kai to go beyond his friend circle and seek help for the things he’s seen in the Navy. I loved that they understood, that they can never understand what Kai has been through and sometimes you just need people who get you.

Even when you think you’re fine.

Maybe especially then so you have the tools for when things aren’t fine. So you have people when things are rough or trigger you.

I think it’s an important story that needs to be told.

Yes, Kai seems fine. But clearly being there affected him. There’s going to be things under the surface. Things he hasn’t faced. Or maybe there won’t be and he can be there for someone else. It doesn’t matter, because it’s important to seek things out in life. People who understand you.

It was adorable that Jesse looked back to the past for ten seconds, missed his carefree youth, and went on with being a good father.

I like that the point wasn’t about going back to those days.

You can miss something and still love where you are.

Jesse can miss having the freedom to enjoy any night out, any way he pleases without being bothered by responsibilities.

But at the end of the day, he loves his family, and he wants to spend time with his kids.

I love that he made it up to Jake by camping out in front of the house. Very cute. Very sweet. Jake will remember that forever.

Oh, and Jesse! You have a wonderful house!

Tennant and boring dentist dude took another shot at not boring each other to death which was sweet, but somewhat uninteresting. He was so dull. Even at the end.

I am – however – excited for Tennant! I love that she’s going out and enjoying life. An important thing to see on TV! An older, single, mother still enjoying life and trying to find love. Nothing wrong with that!

Ernie and Commander Chase! These two are so sweet, they give me cavities! Thanks to the married actors, these two are adorable and I hope we get to see them together more next season!

Oh, and did anyone else catch Ernie say he can marry people?

I guess we know who will marry Kate and Lucy when the time comes!

One last thing! I love that Lucy stuck to her gut in this episode. Yes, it appeared the facts were stacked against Joe, but Lucy looked into his eyes, and trusted herself.

Her time away was put to good use by the writers! It gave them a chance to let Lucy grow. She was aboard that ship, in charge, with no one else to help her. She learned to stand on her own two feet and trust herself in a new way.

Which was highlighted here.

Along with how different she and Kate can be.

One is fact, the other is feeling.

Loved Tennant’s delivery of, “Like a body, body?”

Such a good episode! Can’t wait for the final two episodes! Can you?
