Is it wrong that I forgot Becky AKA Hazard died?
Whoops.
Oh well.
It’s probably right up there with forgetting that we don’t need to worry about catching trains on this show.
Like wha?
Seriously, before I touch on anything else. Could someone please tell me why we couldn’t call Barry? I get that Iris isn’t whooshing while pregnant or something. But I think Barry would understand waiting to be there for their kid.
Or what about those things they smash into the ground to zip around?
Or the thing Cisco invented to create portals?
I’ve seen these people get around the city in no time with these things are you’re telling me Cecile couldn’t use one or something to be there for her daughter?
I’m sorry. I just kept wondering that over and over the entire episode.
If someone has a good reason or explanation, I’m all ears. I’ll accept almost anything remotely plausible.
Thank you.
Anyway!
As for the rest of the episode, while I was sad that Barry and Iris weren’t in it very much since they are two of my faves on this show. Getting to see Cecile be a badass was fun too!
Cecile has been one of my favorite additions to the show ever since she asked Joe out in season two(?). She’s a perfect fit and foil for him. I was so happy when they just kept integrating her further and further into the show.
And this is no different.
One of my favorite shows, Charmed (original) constantly illustrated how connected their powers were to their emotions. It was a great conflict because it added danger when the sisters were in emotional turmoil or even developing new powers. It was a great twist, like Spidey’s web-shooters running out of fluid. It’s a nice addition that works well if not overused.
Here Flash showcased it beautifully.
Cecile is going through a major personal change, and she feels like she might be failing as a mom.
It was a perfect choice to set up as an instrument to further change, while maintaining realism.
Yes, most moms aren’t juggling being actual superheroes. But they are forced to make tough choices between professional and personal things. And sometimes, those choices hurt people closest to us.
I loved the honesty in the storyline.
I loved that Cecile even struggled to go home. I even thought for a moment she was going to choose to move with Joe and Jenna because she couldn’t take it anymore.
And I wouldn’t have blamed her.
Being away from my family like that would be too much for me. She’s a strong lady.
Cecile and Allegra illustrated a strong female friendship and what woman can do when they build each other up instead of tearing each other down.
I love that we’re seeing more and more of that on TV lately. It is a powerful message.
Cecile returning the favor to Allegra and offering her a place to live was such a Joe thing. Those two are the kindest, most open-hearted people on this show. Both are so willing to open their doors and home to those in need.
They’ll never turn away someone in need of help.
It’s why Cecile stayed despite wanting to live with her family. It’s why she stayed even though she was going to miss her train. Why she took on the case. It’s why she’s a superhero. No amount of power can make her better than the heart she uses to guide her actions.
I love them. And I love how perfect they are together.
Allegra is such a badass and so wise I really kind of want to go back and see her grow into this person. Like I remember her intro and she’s changed so much but is still trying to do the right thing. But she does it with the team now.
So nice.
Her relationship with Chester is too cute.
I love how once they got over their fears, they just jumped head-first into this relationship.
Ummm so now about Khione. So, she’s not a meta and she’s not human.
Okay. Well, she feels like a manifestation of nature.
With how connected to it she seems and how much she knows about it while knowing little about human made things, I don’t know what else to say.
Not to mention, the rain stopped when she made the choice to remain as herself. The snow with Chillblaine, I’m having a hard time explaining. Even the kiss.
Otherwise, she seems like nature in human form. That’s my guess.
My other guess for the snow and the save had more to do with Frost. I think she gave him her power. I don’t know how. I just think maybe the kiss activated them, same thing with the snow. That’s my theory.
Anyone have any others?
I’m all ears!
Also, Chillblaine needs some chill.
Guy is just filled with stress. Yeesh.
I know he lost the love of his life and he’s struggling. But Khione didn’t kill her, nor is trying to make it harder.
Take a breath, dude. You need it.
Ah, now for Barry and Iris. I thought the getaway was cute. I do love that the writers are emphasizing that Barry and Iris are together, committed, and making time for one another. It’s very sweet.
Everyone throwing the surprise party was nice.
But I missed Joe! And Cisco! And everyone else who has been such a major part of their lives! Like Wally! Oh, my goodness! He should be there. So many people should be there for them to celebrate this huge occasion!
Come on! It’s the last season, we need all the fan-favorites to help say goodbye!
There I said it.
Alright. Well, we still have a handful of episodes to go in this final season!
