Flash – Wednesday Ever After

After nine seasons, Flash of the Arrowverse is coming to an end and the all new hyped-up season nine premiered on Wednesday!

I can’t believe it took nine seasons for this show involving time travel to do a time loop episode.

I can’t believe that after nine years Barry still hasn’t learned not to mess with time because it will always mess back.

Why would he even try?

Welcome to Flash, where he learns lessons but they never fully stick.

Oh, well.

Any who. This is a review of someone who hasn’t watched weekly since season five and only vaguely knows what’s happened since.

Like I know Cisco left the series.

I didn’t know Caitlin or Killer Frost fell in love (I think) or that Killer Frost died.

Which brings me to the same question seemingly posed several times already – if this person isn’t Caitlin or Killer Frost… Who is it?

What do they want? How many times can this show ask the same question without answering it? I think the answer so far is at least three.

Oh well.

Do Cecile and Joe still have a baby? Where is Jenna?

I agree with Iris, btw. I wouldn’t want to know every single detail of my life laid out like a map. I’d spend too much time obsessing. Especially over bad things as I try to stop or avoid them, which would then lead to what if I’m the cause because I know what’s going to happen.

Honestly, that sounds like as much of headache as not knowing.

I worked at a bookstore and we had a book come out where everyone is delivered a box with a string that tells you how long you left to live. There was a debate in the book and in the store amongst readers about whether or not we’d open it.

Honestly, I don’t think I could live with knowing.

What about you? Would you want to know the future?

Although, I do understand Barry. After the last nine years (even though I’ve missed some things) he and Iris have been through a lot. I can totally understand wanting to play it safe so he doesn’t have to worry about losing his wife again.

The whole episode was wild.

I loved Iris drinking in the middle of the day because she wouldn’t get a hangover.

She was just so done even before the time loop kicked in.

Iris being exhausted with life and everything spiraling out of control was so relatable. Meanwhile, Barry clinging to a map was relatable too. Who wouldn’t want to not have to think about the future anymore?

As for his sidekicks, I totally called the kiss. I just want to throw that out there because I had no idea what was going on for the most part but I totally saw that coming.

I was very proud of myself.

And this has nothing to do with the story really, but were Barry’s new gold boots ever explained in story?

I know they were super hyped up especially by Grant Gustin.

Either way, I loved the new boots.

I do hope we get to see a lot of Barry and Iris together. Part of this show’s charm is how good they are together.

Side note: I loved that she was wearing a hair net. (Not sure the actual name.) But it was a such a nice touch to show she is a black woman. Maybe a little late, but hopefully it sparks a real change going forward.

All in all, I liked the goofy opening with a not so interesting villain because it was more about the characters, specifically Barry and Iris.

I’m looking forward to saying goodbye to this show as long as it keeps this jovial attitude! For me, that’s what made this show so good. It was way lighter than Arrow ever was!
