I want to start with an important message!
I AM NOT HERE TO BASH KRISTA.
Okay, with that said, I can move on to more important things, like why I think her leaving is a good thing.
I am not her biggest fan, but I do believe she’s not a bad person. I think she tries to do right by her shows, she’s just not sure what that always means.
And I can’t be too angry with a woman who gave up Marina.
Seriously, this another show I started because I saw two hot ladies in a relationship together. Especially, Carina DeLuca….
What was I saying?
Right, Krista brought Carina DeLuca to Station 19 and gave us the Marina ship.
Do I think the baby storyline was handled the way it should have been? Especially with inserting (poor word choice) Jack into the mix?
No.
Do I think they were trying to show something beautiful and missed the mark?
Hell yes.
I firmly believe they were trying to replicate the way Danielle helped her best friend have a baby. Which is a beautiful and wonderful thing.
Did it work here? Not in the slightest.
For me, Shondaland, and all her shows have always had one thing in common.
Senseless pain and drama.
No one is ever happy for long and no one remains married forever.
Either they die or they divorce. The only way you get a happy ending on these shows is it you leave and move far away or both of you die together. Which is the main reason I never watched any of them until Station 19.
Which I started watching while I was in a horrible depression after losing a family member and wanted everything around me to be miserable too.
I think whoever takes over should ditch the senseless drama and pain. People aren’t interested in the will they, won’t they anymore. We want to see couples like Carina and Maya in it for the long haul.
We want to see people like them win and get everything they want and live happily together. Life and marriage and relationships are filled with drama and issues without cheating or unnecessary crap.
I’d love to be able to watch these shows and know that the characters are going to get through things together. That they’re going to act like the families they claim to be.
It’s time for a new generation to take the helm of these shows and this universe.
Krista Vernoff is part of the legacy, she helped build it. She got it this far which is no small feat. I wish her well.
